SUMMARY:Certificate Course in Basic Astronomy
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year when the monsoon clouds\, especially in Gujarat\, India\, are receding and one gets relief from that itch of once again looking at the night sky after long but necessary months of monsoon. \n\n\n\nNow that the sky is clearing\, we bring to you a weekend certificate course in Basic Astronomy under the mentorship of world-renowned Indian astrophysicist\, Dr J. J. Rawal. \n\n\n\nWhile Dr J. J. Rawal needs no introduction\, we will keep it in brief. He is the former director of Nehru Planetarium\, Mumbai and currently heads the Indian Planetary Society. During the 70s and 80s\, he studied and published research papers on the formation of our Solar System predicting rings around the Sun\, Mars and Neptune. The latter of which was proved to be corrected when NASA’s Voyager 2 definitively discovered them in the images during its fly-by near Neptune. \n\n\n\nComing back to the course\, the mode of teaching is offline and you’ll have to visit Shri O. V. Sheth Regional Community Science Centre\, Rajkot to attend the classes. Luckily\, the classes will be only at weekends and so you can drop by even if you are staying in a nearby city. There will be 18 sessions with 3 sessions each weekend (Saturday evening\, Sunday morning & afternoon). The first session will be on the evening 9th of October 2021. \n\n\n\nThe fee for the course is Rs. 1\,500/- (non-refundable) and a certificate will be issued on successful completion of the full course. \n\n\n\nSpot registrations are also accepted. \n\n\n\nFor more details\, please refer to the attached PDF. \n\n\n\n2110-bbac-astronomy-certificate-course-brochureDownload
